Why Most Owners Leave Money on the Table

Most business brokers list and pray. Then take 10–15% of your life's work.

You've spent twenty, thirty, sometimes forty years building something extraordinary. When it comes time to exit, most owners get matched with a broker who throws their listing on a public marketplace, waits for inbound interest, and collects a fat success fee whether they got you the right buyer or not.

Kingdom Broker runs a different process: confidential M&A advisory with a curated buyer pool, active deal management, and zero upfront retainer. We work with a select number of owners at a time so you get full attention, strategic guidance, and a network of serious buyers who are actually ready to close.

How much is my business worth?
Most $1M–$20M businesses are valued on a multiple of EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization). Multiples vary by industry, size, customer concentration, and growth trajectory — typically 3× to 8× for service businesses, and up to 11× for specialty manufacturing with licensed IP. Kingdom Broker offers a free 3-step valuation tool that estimates your range based on actual 2024–2025 transaction data in your industry.
How long does it take to sell a $1M–$20M business?
A well-prepared sell-side process typically runs 6–12 months from engagement to closing day. Valuation and preparation take 4–8 weeks, buyer outreach and LOI 8–16 weeks, and due diligence + close another 8–16 weeks. Owners who skip preparation and listing strategy often extend this to 18–24 months and leave significant value on the table.
What's the difference between a business broker and an M&A advisor?
Traditional business brokers typically list small businesses (under $1M) on public marketplaces and wait for buyers to find them. M&A advisors run a curated, confidential process for established businesses ($1M–$50M), actively marketing the opportunity to a vetted buyer pool, negotiating LOIs, and managing diligence. Kingdom Broker operates as an M&A advisor with a proprietary 2,500+ buyer network.
Do you charge upfront fees to sell my business?
No. Kingdom Broker charges zero upfront retainer. Our compensation is paid at close as 7–10% of the final transaction value. This aligns our incentives with yours: we only get paid when you close at a price you accept. If we can't deliver a buyer at a number that works for you, we don't get paid.
How do you keep the sale confidential from my employees and customers?
Every potential buyer signs an NDA before reviewing any identifying details about your business. We market the opportunity using a "teaser" (industry, region, revenue band, EBITDA range — no name) and only release the full Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM) after a qualified buyer signs an NDA. Your employees and customers are not informed until the deal closes.
What types of businesses does Kingdom Broker work with?
Kingdom Broker specializes in service businesses, light manufacturing, and B2B operations with $1M–$20M in revenue. Strongest verticals: HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, facility services, light manufacturing, dental and veterinary practices, and specialty contracting. Nationwide coverage with a focus on the U.S. Sun Belt.
Who buys these businesses?
Kingdom Broker maintains a 2,500+ vetted buyer network across four categories:
  • Private equity firms (lower middle market funds looking for platform or bolt-on acquisitions)
  • Family offices (high-net-worth families investing directly in cash-flowing businesses)
  • Search funds (experienced operators with committed capital looking for one business to run)
  • Strategic acquirers (industry consolidators expanding via M&A)
Each buyer is pre-qualified for capital, sector fit, and deal size before being approached on your behalf.
What multiple will my business sell for?
Service businesses with $1–5M EBITDA typically sell at 4–6× EBITDA. Above-average performers (>20% EBITDA margin, low customer concentration, recurring revenue) reach 6–8×. Specialty manufacturing with licensed IP can reach 8–11×. Kingdom Broker's free valuation tool returns a specific multiple range based on your industry, size, and EBITDA — using actual 2024–2025 transaction data.
What's the first step if I'm thinking about selling?
The first step is a free, confidential conversation. We don't need your financials, your name, or any commitment. Schedule a 30-minute consultation with Eric Skeldon, our founder. We'll discuss your timeline, your current valuation range, and whether Kingdom Broker is the right fit for your business and your goals. If we're not, we'll tell you who is.
